About me
Five hundred weddings teaches you things no brief can capture — when the room needs to breathe, when it's ready to go, and the exact moment to drop the track that gets everyone on their feet. That's what 20 years of doing this looks like in practice.
When you book me, the agreement is simple. Every planning conversation is with me. Every pre-wedding consultation is with me. And on your wedding night — the person behind the decks is me. Not a booking agency. Not a roster. Just the person you've been working with from the start.
I'm based in Auckland and travel throughout New Zealand for weddings.
"A great first dance doesn't just happen. It's built — from the right track, the right moment, and someone who's done this enough times to know the difference."
— Jono Ridler

"Our DJ cancelled last minute and Jono stepped in a week out. He was super reliable, played the best music all night, and was an all-round great guy. We couldn't have asked for better."
Briar Pryor
Wedding · Turanga Creek, Auckland
"Our guest list had a diverse age group and Jono managed to play songs that kept everyone on the dance floor — he even incorporated traditional songs really successfully. An absolute pro."

Why choose me
No agency. No roster. Every enquiry, every planning session, and every moment behind the decks is me. That's not a differentiator I invented — it's how I've always worked, and it's the thing couples tell me matters most.
Five hundred weddings teaches you the rhythm of a reception — when the room is ready to move, when it needs space, and the exact track that gets three generations up at once. That instinct isn't something you can hire.
A custom-built DJ booth, premium QSC sound and professional lighting — designed for couples who care about how everything looks and feels. No trestle tables, no cable clutter, no compromise.
"From first dance to last call — I'll make it unforgettable."

FAQ
As soon as you have a date in mind. Wedding season runs October–April and books out fast — 6–9 months in advance is ideal. Popular Saturday dates in peak season can book over a year out, so don't leave it too late.
Yes — I can cover your ceremony, drinks/canapés, dinner and reception all the way through to the last dance. The Premium DJ package includes up to 8 hours of music covering ceremony and reception. Each package can be tailored to your day.
Absolutely — and it's all handled through your personal Client Portal, which you'll get access to when you book. You can submit must-play songs, flag anything you definitely don't want played, and add special requests. I'll prompt you to finalise everything around 4 weeks out from your wedding.
Yes — if you're happy for me to take requests, absolutely. I'll veto anything that doesn't fit the vibe, but I'm always happy to work with the room and give guests what they want to hear.
A non-refundable deposit of 30% of your total is required to secure your date. The balance is due two weeks prior to your wedding. Payment can be made via internet banking or credit/debit card.
Yes — I'm happy to travel throughout New Zealand and will include any travel costs in your quote. Accommodation costs may apply for events requiring an overnight stay.
Yes — I hold $2 million public liability insurance, giving you and your venue complete peace of mind. Most venues now require this as standard, and it's not something every DJ provides.
No — unlike a band, I can play continuously from start to finish. I might step away briefly between tracks but there are no scheduled breaks that interrupt the music or the night.
Yes — in most cases, subject to the venue. Overtime is charged at $200 per hour (or part thereof). Just let me know on the night and we'll sort it out.
Not much — my setup is modern and compact. A couple of square metres is typically plenty for the DJ booth. I'll liaise directly with your venue to confirm requirements ahead of the day.
